Hello Gnomies! a little bird told us that the next GnomeCon will be April 11-13, 2014. We’ll be at the same awesome venue.

Again thanks to all the wonderful folks that helped us this year! We look forward to bigger and better with an extra dose of fun next year!

GnomeCon 2 was a huge success, with approximately 500 people in attendance, a major jump over last year. Still, there’s always room for improvement, so if you have any suggestions on things you would like us to feature next year, feel free to drop us a line.

This is an exceedingly grand visual and musical camp satire of the golden days of the B-movie horror and science-fiction genres. Brad and Janet, two straight-laced lovebirds, embark on a strange journey when their car stalls in the rain. They stumble upon the castle of Dr. Frank-N-Furter and his bizarre entourage. This is no ordinary party, this is the unveiling of the doctor’s latest creation: Rocky, man-made Adonis. It all goes to pot when the guests discover that Frank is actually an alien.

No doubt this will be a night everyone will remember for a very long time.

GnomeCon is proud to welcome back comedian Phil Keeling. High-energy and highly entertaining, this Savannah comedian covers everything from sex to religion to comic books to politics to dating. Influenced by such entertainers as George Carlin, Patton Oswalt and Bill Hicks, Born in Europe, raised in the South and educated in the North, he is your only friend in a world of madness and chaos.

Also, The Odd Lot, Savannah’s premiere comedy troupe, will be performing its hilarious improvisational show, fueled by audience suggestions. The Odd Lot troupe will be performing (1 hour each) on Friday, April 19, from 8-9 p.m. and Saturday, April 20 from 6-7 p.m.

The group has recently moved into production of stage plays with great success, and has added the Dead In The Water Murder Mystery Cruise to its repertoire. March 2013 will mark its third anniversary, with the future full of dreams and possibilities. For more information, visit www.oddlot.org.

The SCA is a not-for-profit organization which recreates the idyllic life of the middle ages, recreating pre-17th century European cultures. Forth Castle spans several areas in eastern Georgia, including Savannah, Richmond Hill, Hinesville, Rincon, Springfield, Pooler and Pembroke.

Many SCA enthusiasts have various interests that translate into this hobby. Illumination and calligraphy, brewing, armor-smithing, leatherworking, jewelry-making, knitting, dancing, costuming, cooking, and more, are all fun things that we learn how to do as they did during the Middle Ages. A big draw to this organization is armoured combat. Gentlemen – as well as the ladies – can learn how to wear armour and safely fight in one-on-one tournaments or group battles.

Star Fleet Battles

Out-shoot, out-think, and out-tly your opponent in a deep-space dogfight. The Star Fleet Battles game system is based on four principles:
• The Ship System Display: graphically presents all of the systems on your starship.
• Energy Allocation: Every turn, count your energy and spend it wisely. There is never enough.
• Proportional Movement: All starships are in continuous and simultaneous maneuver.
• Damage Allocation: Penetrate enemy shields, and damage is distributed throughout his ship.

In addition, Amarillio Design Bureau has several other starship games set in the same universe, such as Battle Force, a card game; Prime Directive, a role playing game; and Star Fleet Marines, a ground combat game.

Cool Mini or Not

Cool Mini or Not will be doing game demonstrations of its games throughout GnomeCon. Cool Mini or Not manufactures and distributes its own line of the best premier quality sci-fi and fantasy miniatures in the industry. Demos will include Guilds of Cadwallon, Sedition Wars and Super Dungeon Explore.

Guilds of Cadwallon is a fast, tactical board game in which 2-4 players try to accumulate as many Guild Points as possible by using their agents to control city districts, with a randomized 3×3 square of cards representing the city over several rounds.

Sedition Wars: Battle for Alabaster is a fast-paced tactical miniatures game for two players. Survival horror at its finest, game play is fast and bloody, creating urgency and claustrophobic terror as the Vanguard fight for their lives against an unrelenting Strain.

Battle for Alabaster is a survival horror-themed tactical science fiction miniatures game from Studio McVey. Pitting the stalwart Vanguard and the horrific Strain against one another in a miniatures board-game for two players, Sedition Wars: Battle for Alabaster is exciting and easy to learn and calls to miniature enthusiasts, hobbyists and gamers everywhere.

Featuring an innovative one-roll resolution system, and reactive game-play turn that keeps all players always on alert and ready for action, as well as infection and mutation game mechanisms, the game is unique and revolutionary. Featuring beautiful models from some of the most talented sculptors in the industry, the furious action and deep tactical play in Battle for Alabaster marry the best of board game and miniature design.

Super Dungeon Explore is a dungeon crawler inspired by old Japanese console RPGs. The 52 included miniatures are done in a cute / chibi / super-deformed style, which means the head is roughly the same size as the rest of the body.

One to five players take the role of classic fantasy heroes like the human paladin, a dwarf fighter, or an elf ranger. One player is the “Dark Consul” who controls the monsters of the dungeon. Every hero/monster has a character card that details the stats for movement, attack, armor, willpower, dexterity, action points and hearts (= life points). Additional information may include special abilities / actions / attacks and potions.

The game is played on modular dungeon boards. During a round of play, the game passes back and forth between single heroes and the monsters, but the exact order may change from round to round. The characters use the stats from their character card, special dice (with hearts, potions and stars) are only used for combat and checks. If the heroes wound the opponent, they may draw loot cards to improve their stats. There is also the possibility to open treasure chests to find even more powerful things. The monsters have no possibility to “level up” apart from a single late game upgrade but the Dark Consul has an unlimited number of them.

To win the game, the Dark Consul must defeat all heroes in his dungeon. The heroes must spawn the dungeon boss by killing monsters or destroying all spawning points (= entry points for new monsters). The heroes must then kill the dungeon boss to be victorious.

The Atlanta-based company is also donating a fresh copy of Zombicide to the GnomeCon game library. Zombicide is a collaborative game in which players take the role of a survivor – each with unique abilities – and harness both their skills and the power of teamwork against the hordes of unthinking undead! Zombies are predictable, stupid but deadly, controlled by simple rules and a deck of cards. Unfortunately for you, there are a LOT more zombies than you have bullets.

Find weapons, kill zombies. The more zombies you kill, the more skilled you get; the more skilled you get, the more zombies appear. The only way out is zombicide.

In Pathfinder Society Organized Play, you play a member of the Pathfinder Society, seeking fortune and glory all over the face of Golarion. At the same time, your character works for one of the competing factions, all with their own motivations and secret agendas.
