The Rules and General Info and FAQs – The War and Peace Format
No Alcohol/Drugs! – The convention is a family event. Alcohol is not permitted at GnomeCon events. You may go to your hotel pub for a drink.
Art Show- We will be hosting an art show, we hope you will all take a look at our artists and gallery. Please be mindful of museum rules, i.e. not touching or photographing the art. If you are interested in purchasing a work of art, see the art show desk for more details.
Attendance Behavior - We reserve the right to ask you to leave the convention and refuse to refund your registration money if you are misbehaving. This includes disobeying the rules, being disrespectful to other attendees, venue staff or other venue guests. If you’re aiming to misbehave get some sleep and a shower, then rejoin our civilized geek society.
Badges - Badges will be available at the door, pre-ordered badges will be available for pick-up at the registration desk. Please see our membership page for current prices. You must wear your name badge at all times to be admitted to any convention function in the convention area. Please wear it in a visible area on your person. All visitors found without a badge will be dealt with by convention security. Badges can be picked up at Registration upon entering the convention.
Children- We are a family friendly convention. Children under the age of 12 should be accompanied by an adult. Teens are encouraged to attend, adult badges are required for them. Please see the schedule for age ratings. Most R rated events will be scheduled for the evening slots.
Costumes - We encourage our attendees to show off their costumes, however, costumes need to be family appropriate. Certainly wear your costume at anytime other than the at the Costume show. We encourage other attendees to be respectful of all costumed attendees. Drooling and leering could result in offending our Klingon security team.
Demos – We have invited various sponsors to demo games if they wish. You may sign up for demos at the beginning of the con. There will also be ‘demo’ games run by game masters to show new players a game. We encourage new players to try a demo before tournament play, unless tourney guidelines include inexperienced players. If you need a demo of a game ask a con host.
Event Behavior- We will be hosting geek related entertainment events, such as music, performance, comedy, video showings and game shows. When attending these events, BE respectful of the performers and the audience around you. Inappropriate behavior will result in security breathing down your neck. The same is true of all Panels.
Event Cancellation - Things happen, so announced events are subject to change and/or cancellation without notice. Every effort will be made to announce any changes via the Internet, our pre-convention publications and onsite at registration. Cancellation of events are unfortunate but can occur.
Food - You may buy food and drinks at the snack machines in the lobby. You are welcome to bring food and drinks into the venue.
Game Library – Our Board Games Library offers many board game titles than any registered attendee of GnomeCon may check out free of charge. The library will be in the Game room. These games should be put back the way they came out of the box, and should never leave the Game room area.
Hotel – We encourage you to get a hotel room nearby, we like to support our local business. NO CAMPING IN THE HALLS OR LOBBY! If you are found sleeping in the public areas, you will be asked to go to your hotel room. If you do not have a room, hotel or venue security will be forced to ask you to leave. Please do not abuse our hotels or convention facilities, including putting signs on walls. If you want to post an event please report to the registration office or events office for permission.
Hotel Room Rates – Hotel rooms are available at a discount rate if you book early. Please mention GnomeCon when booking your room by phone to receive the discount price. There is also a code for online hotel registration.
